    The Smoky Mountain Astronomical Society (SMAS) is an Astronomical League-affiliated club for astronomy enthusiasts in the East Tennessee area. SMAS provides monthly meetings at Pellissippi State Technical Community College in Knoxville, star parties at several locations, and a members-only Yahoo group. SMAS also has several loaner scopes for members including a 10-inch dobsonian, a 127mm Burgess Optical achromatic refractor with an LXD55 mount, and our newly refurbished 20-inch Dobsonian we term "Sasquatch."

Next SMAS Meeting Nov 10th, 7:30 PM

Join us at PSTCC Hardin Valley campus in Room 223 in the Alexander Building for our next regular club meeting.

Kate Jones, a professor of physics and astronomy at the University of Tennessee, will present "Stardust and Atom Smashers" discussing the inner workings of stars and very recent discoveries from the collisions of neutron stars.
